Juggling life, blogging and everything. Highlights of Twitter chat 10th Feb

Our topic for last night’s #irishbbloggers was how you juggle life, work, hobbies, kiddies, responsibilities and blogging. No one knows better than us how time consuming blogging actually is (I think if some PR people got an insight into this they’d be awed by our stamina!) and it involves not just spewing out your thoughts in a jumble online (aka Facebook) but taking well lit product photos, editing said photos, constructing a concise, well formatted, yet entertaining copy and then promoting your post across various social media outlets. Never mind the behind the scenes technical wrangling! All for free.

So here’s the highlights of the chat about how to organise your blogging around your life. You’ll notice that the most useful suggestions come from mammies or mammies to be! Clearly motherhood endows upon us the wisdom of the ages. That and you need to be bloody organised to have kids and blog!

I post 4 days a week & have 1 day as an opinion post with no photos so helps me with regular posts but lighter workload #irishbbloggers

Check your Google Analytics too, see which platform is sending you the most traffic & concentrate your content there #irishbbloggers

So, correct me if I’m wrong, but the consensus seems to be to find a system that works for you. Write/type things down into your organising tool of choice, have a good lighting setup to ensure you’re not depending on Ireland’s changeable weather for your photos, and batch the various jobs. And most important of all, have fun with it. Quality is more important than quantity, so don’t feel pressured to post more than you’re able or you’ll burn out. Remember why you started your blog, and try rekindle your love for it. And you can always come to us #irishbbloggers for a moan or a leg up if you need it!

We’re an amazing bunch, and don’t ever forget it.
